Ryan is a performer, educator, and author based in New York City. With a passion for musical theater and site-specifc performances, favorite productions include Lippa's The Wild Party (Rooftop Musical Society), The Gauntlet (Rockefeller Center), The Mile Long Opera (The High Line), Bloody Bloody Andrew Jackson, Assassins, Jekyll & Hyde, Evita, Seussical, Pippin, and The Prom. He holds a Bachelor of Music in Education with a minor in Music Theater and a Master of Arts in Teaching from Westminster Choir College of Rider University. Ryan has taught choir, digital music, film, band, and theatre as well as private voice and instrumental lessons.
As a choral singer, Ryan has substantial experience as a member of several acclaimed American choirs. He currently sings with Downtown Voices at Trinity Wall Street under Stephen Sands and The Same Stream under James Jordan. He sang with the Westminster Williamson Voices, whose recording of James Whitbourn's Annelies received a 2014 GRAMMY nomination for Best Choral Performance. As a member of the renowned Westminster Symphonic Choir, he sang under many of the world's leading conductors and orchestras including Gustavo Dudamel (Simón Bolívar Symphony Orchestra), Alan Gilbert (New York Philharmonic), Esa-Pekka Salonen (Philharmonia Orchestra), Yannick Nézet-Séguin (Philadelphia Orchestra), Daniel Barenboim (West-Eastern Digan Orchestra), and Daniel Harding (Dresden Staatskapelle). He has appeared on several studio and live recordings released by labels such as Naxos and Verve.
