Akathist nominated for 2025 GRAMMY Award for Best Choral Performance
Downtown Voices' recording of the world-premiere of Benedict Sheehan's Akathist, recorded in 2023 at Trinity Wall Street and released in 2024, has been nominated for a GRAMMY Award for Best Choral Performance. The recording, conducted by Elaine Kelly, showcases Sheehan's sweeping, beautiful piece and features NOVUS NY, Artefact Ensemble, and The Choir of Trinity Wall Street. Ryan has sung with Downtown Voices under Stephen Sands since its inception in 2015. This is the 2nd recording Ryan has sung on to receive a Best Choral Performance GRAMMY nomination after Westminster Williamson Voices' recording of James Whitbourn's Annelies was nominated in 2014. |

Ryan stars in off-off Broadway revival of [title of show]
From broadwayworld.com Ryan starred as Jeff in the sold-out off-off Broadway revival of [title of show] directed by Alex Kopnick and produced by Kopcorp. Running for 3 performances at Under St. Marks/FrigidNYC on the Lower East Side, the production brought to life the 2008 show written by and starring Jeff Bowen, Hunter Bell, Susan Blackwell, and Heidi Blickenstaff. As a long-time super-fan of the show, this was a dream role for Ryan and he could not have been more excited to share the stage with Joshua Screen, Grace Gebara, and Maddie Conti, and Clayton Matthews. |

Ryan sings with Andrea Bocelli at Madison Square Garden
Ryan performed in two sold-out shows at Madison Square Garden with Downtown Voices, a semiprofessional choir at Trinity Church Wall Street. The group sang as the choir for Andrea Bocelli's annual performances at Madison Square Garden, and featured opera choruses, pop songs, and classics favorites alongside Bocelli as well as other guest performers including Katharine McPhee and Nadine Sierra. |

Performance at Rockefeller Center in The Gauntlet
As a member of Downtown Voices, Ryan John performed in an immersive, site-specific experimental choral performance work entitled The Gauntlet. Created by Sxip Shirey and Coco Karol and produced by National Sawdust, the piece featured over 200 choral singers from around New York City sharing stories and insights from leading creative minds focused on personal and national identity. |

World Premier of "If We Stand as One" at United in Song at New World Stages
Ryan John conducted the world premier of "If We Stand as One" by composer Jim Papoulis to benefit the Tyler Clementi Foundation on February 13, 2018. The premier took place during United in Song at New World Stages in the off-Broadway theater home to Jersey Boys. United in Song is triennial concert sponsored by the Léman Community Association that seeks to bring together the Léman and New York City community through music. The evening featured performances by over 130 elementary, middle, and high school students joined by parents, faculty, staff, and professionals from the worlds of Broadway, classical, and jazz. "It We Stand as One" is a piece commissioned by the Léman Fine Arts Department under the direction of Lisa Nowicki that supports the Tyler Clementi Foundation's mission to end bullying. Planned in close collaboration with Jane Clementi, mother of Tyler Clementi, the piece explores the power of words and our ability to change others' lives, for better or worse, with our words and actions. "If We Stand As One" will be published and the Tyler Clementi Foundation will receive a portion of the proceeds from all sales. |

Soloist with the New York Chamber Choir
Ryan John performed as the baritone soloist for Maurice Duruflé's Requiem with the New York Chamber Choir. Held at St. Ignatius of Antioch in New York City, the concert featured the Duruflé Requiem as well as the music of Victoria, Mendelssohn, Bach, and Pearsell. New York Chamber Choirs is a non-profit organization and charity dedicated to the promotion of chamber choir music through performance, education and outreach. Ryan is a member of the 20-voice adult choir, which collaborates with the New York Chamber Choir Youth ensemble on a regular basis. |
